DUST ALLERGY

Allergy is a disorder of immune system that is often called atopy. Allergic reactions occur to environmental substances known as allergens.

Dust mites: These are extremely small microscopic organisms that live in dust and also in pillows, carpets, mattresses which are not frequently laundered.

Dust mites multiply easily in warm and humid places. Most of the asthma patients are sensitive to dust mites. People who are allergic to dust mites react to proteins in the bodies and faeces of the mites. These faecal particles are found in large amount in pillows.

When an allergic person sleeps with his nose in direct contact with such pillow he experiences allergy symptoms.

House Dust Allergy: While cleaning or dusting the furniture some people may experience running nose, sneezing, itching in the eyes, watering of eyes.

Such people are allergic to house dust which is a mixture of dust mites, fungi, moulds; cockroaches' etc.Such allergens can cause production of special antibody called IgE which brings an allergic inflammatory response.

Signs and Symptoms:
. Sneezing
. Running nose
. Cough
. Nasal blockage

Treatment and Management:
. Use washable blankets and spreads, and wash all bedding (including pillows without cases) every week.
. Use dust mite covers (airtight plastic/polyurethane covers) over pillows, mattresses, and box springs.
. Remove carpeting or vacuum frequently using a vacuum cleaner with high-efficiency filters.

Homeopathic treatment
